Tyneside Community Store & Baby Bank is a community-led initiative based in Wallsend, North Tyneside.
We redistribute donated baby items, clothing and essential household goods to families who need them most.
Our project combines a community store and a baby bank. Through our baby bank we provide essential items for babies and young children through professional referrals. Our community store redistributes good quality donated items at very low cost, helping families access affordable essentials while reducing waste.
Every item we provide has been generously donated by the public and local organisations. These donations are sorted, checked and prepared by our volunteers before being redistributed to local families.
Our aim is simple: to ensure that no family in our community goes without the essentials they need.
What we do:
Provide essential baby items to families through referrals.
Support families facing financial hardship.
Operate a low-cost community store.
Redistribute donated clothing and household goods.
Reduce waste by giving usable items a second life.
Create a welcoming space for volunteers and community support
Referrals
Families usually access our baby bank through referrals from professionals or support organisations.
We accept referrals from:
- Health visitors
- Social workers
- Schools
- Charities
- Family support services
- Community organisations
